800,000 people live in Amsterdam and 60,000 of them are lonely.  A 'mate' from De Regenboog Groep serves as a safety net for someone without a network. Moreover, we support people who live with vulnerable people (sharing a household). Finally, we organize easily accessible activities, so that clients come in contact with peers.

Frans' experience

"At 45th I became unable to work and I signed up as a volunteer. My first "mate" did not leave home anymore for years, as a result of schizophrenia . I visited him on a weekly basis. We talked a lot, but I felt we had to go out. So, we sat down in a park first, visited a museum and finally went fishing; wish was a mayor success." - Frans Lüschen, vrijwilliger

Below are the projects of De Regenboog Groep within this theme. Through these projects and activities we want visitors, clients and participants actively participate in society

What can you do?

We need your help, become a volunteer! You can help by investing your time and energy, by working with citizens of Amsterdam with unusual stories. Or become a donor! Your money will be well spent on care for homeless people, aid for (former) addicts and people living in poverty or social isolation. You are always welcome to drop by and see how your money is spent. Or why not buy one of the products from our online Gift Shop? A present for someone you know, perhaps. It's all contributing towards a better society. And that's great, isn't it?
