Tramps and homeless people in Amsterdam can always find some peace and quiet in one of our eight walk-in centres. They can eat a healthy meal, have a hot shower and get clean clothes. The visitors themselves help to run the walk-in centres. That makes them feel good about themselves and encourages them to do more to be part of society. For drug addicts we've save and clean shooting rooms.

Jaques' experiences

"I don't have an alarm clock. I'm woken by the sounds of the birds every morning. I get up about ten o'clock and walk to teh supermarket for a cup of coffee. Makom opens at one o'clock. I think I'm there every day. On Tuesdays, we always have band practice with the homeless band, Makom-Mokum. On other days, I'll paint in the Art Suite. I eat at Makom and I feel at home there.” - Jacques Vedel du Boisbaudry, visitor

Below are the projects of De Regenboog Groep within this theme. Through these projects and activities we want visitors, clients and participants actively participate in society

What can you do?

We need your help, become a volunteer! You can help by investing your time and energy, by working with citizens of Amsterdam with unusual stories. Or become a donor! Your money will be well spent on care for homeless people, aid for (former) addicts and people living in poverty or social isolation. You are always welcome to drop by and see how your money is spent. Or why not buy one of the products from our online Gift Shop? A present for someone you know, perhaps. It's all contributing towards a better society. And that's great, isn't it?
