Would you like to be there for lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender people who are (temporarily) out of balance or have mental health issues? Then become an LGBTQ+ volunteer!
For a group of LGBTQ+ people it is difficult to maintain social contacts or to undertake things. This may be because they have psychological complaints or find it exciting to go out on the streets because they have fled because of their orientation, for example. They often lead a withdrawn life.
They do not feel safe, have no network or struggle with anxiety, trauma or depression. Because we believe that everyone belongs and everyone can participate in society, we link them to social Amsterdammers. To go out together or to stay inside. Whether that is drinking tea or playing old-fashioned board games together, playing sports or (re)discovering the gay scene.
As a volunteer you will meet at least 2x a month, you will agree on this together. You commit for 6 to 12 months to your buddy; this way you really build a bond.
Who are you?
- You are socially strong and open minded;
- You stand firmly on your feet;
- You are open to other people's stories;
- You are respectful of cultural differences and different norms and values;
- You are fluent in Dutch;
- You are available for a few hours a week or every two weeks for at least six months;

Working Hours
This is something you consult with your buddy. Count on a few hours per week or every 2 weeks, for the period of a year.
